About

The Institute of nano-technology and advanced material at Bar-Ilan university is proud to present the summer school on normal and anomalous stochastic processes in Physics. Besides a basic introduction to the field we will present specific applications from the fields of single molecule tracking in the environment of the cell and stochasticity in the cell cycle.

In recent years we have encountered new themes in Physics of stochastic processes, related to weak ergodicity breaking, ageing, and the departure from Gaussian statistics. The basic courses will introduce both the classic results and the modern anomalous counter parts. Both Gaussian and L évy central limit theorems will be outlined as well as normal and anomalous diffusion, integer and fractional Fokker-Planck equations, etc. The text book by Klafter and Sokolov, First Steps in Random walks and the review article by Klafter and Metzler, The Random Walk’s Guide to Anomalous Diffusion will give the participants a general idea on some of the basics surveyed in the lectures.

We aim to attract international and Israeli students, i.e. MSc., PhD and Post-docs, though more advanced researches are also welcome. The school is open for theoreticians and experimentalists.

Participants are invited to present their work in a poster session
